Russian propaganda is trying to discredit the verdict in the MH17 case announced by the court yesterday
Although the court’s decision does not directly concern Russia or Russian officials, the Kremlin cannot but see it as a dangerous precedent for itself. It is expected that Russian propaganda efforts were aimed at discrediting the verdict, the court in The Hague and exposing another “conspiracy of the collective West”, according to the Center for Strategic Communications. Namely:
▪️The Russian Foreign Ministry refused to recognize the verdict, calling it “ordered” and “politically motivated”;
▪️ fact-checkers on the federal channels were ordered “not to delve too deeply into the essence of the verdict and not to blow this news story too much”;
Kremlin TV stories emphasized not the facts established by the court, but the position of the Russian Foreign Ministry and “anti-Russian hysteria” in the EU;
Telegram pocket propagandists “trashed” the Kremlin for “not actively interfering with the investigation” and even gave foreign investigators access to the crash site and wreckage;
▪️ Russian propaganda does not even try to convince consumers that Russia was not involved in the downing of MH17.

Хоча рішення суду і не стосується росії чи російських посадовців безпосередньо, кремль не може не вбачати в ньому небезпечний для себе прецедент. Очікувано, що зусилля російської пропаганди були спрямовані на дискредитацію вироку, суду в Гаазі та викриття чергової «змови колективного Заходу», повідомляють в Центрі стратегічних комунікацій. А саме:
▪️мзс росії відмовилося визнавати вирок, назвавши його «замовним» і «політично вмотивованим»;
▪️фейкоробам на федеральних каналах наказали «не дуже заглиблюватися у сутність вироку та не надто роздмухувати цей інформаційний привід»;
▪️у сюжетах кремлівського ТБ наголошували не на встановлених судом фактах, а на позиції російського мзс та «антиросійській істерії» в ЄС;
▪️кишенькові Telegram-пропагандисти «розносили» кремль за те, що там «недостатньо активно заважали розслідуванню» і навіть надали іноземним слідчим доступ до місяця катастрофи та уламків літака;
▪️російська пропаганда навіть не намагається переконати споживачів у тому, що рф не причетна до збиття MH17.
